Post-Doctoral Fellow – Mamedov Lab

The Wistar Institute•Philadelphia, PA

About The Position

Dr. Murad Mamedov’s laboratory at The Wistar Institute is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow to study how human γδ T cells detect aberrant tumor cell states and to help develop novel, broadly accessible immunotherapies. The Mamedov Lab uses CRISPR screens and functional genomics to investigate cancer-cell detection by the human immune system and collaborates with laboratories across the University of Pennsylvania campus and beyond. The fellow will lead high-impact projects focused on T cell receptor (TCR) target discovery, CRISPR screening and engineering of human T cells, and T cell detection of stress-remodeled cancer cells. The work will build on and significantly expand the lab’s published research on human γδ T cell recognition and killing of cancer cells. Candidates with expertise in T cell biology, cancer immunology, in vitro cancer models, genomics, and/or gene editing are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have recently obtained or be nearing completion of a PhD in a relevant field, such as immunology, cancer biology, or genetics, and have at least one first-author peer-reviewed publication. In addition to the online application, applicants should submit a single PDF to Dr. Murad Mamedov containing a CV, a one-page cover letter describing scientific interests, potential research interests, and career aspirations, and contact information for three references. The Wistar Institute is located in Philadelphia on the University of Pennsylvania campus and offers resources for collaborative research, an intellectual environment, and state-of-the-art facilities. The institute conducts discovery science in cancer, immunology, and infectious disease and supports translating research advances from bench to bedside through collaboration among scientific investigators and academic and industry partners. Wistar provides a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.
