About The Position

The Snyder lab is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to investigate immune mechanisms of retinal and central nervous system (CNS) pathology during viral infection. The successful candidate will have an immunology background; recent PhD graduates with experience using in vivo models are preferred.

The fellow develops and tests scientific hypotheses, designs and carries out experiments, and analyzes experimental results. The role also involves collecting and assembling research data and communicating laboratory findings through oral presentations, abstracts, manuscripts, grant proposals, data reports, and slide presentations for the principal investigator and local and national meetings.

Responsibilities

• Collect and assemble data for oral and written presentations.
• Independently develop scientific hypotheses related to ongoing laboratory work.
• Independently design experiments to test hypotheses.
• Independently carry out or delegate experimental procedures.
• Independently analyze experimental results.
• Prepare oral and written reports for the principal investigator on research.
• Write abstracts, manuscripts, grant proposals, and grant data reports, and prepare corresponding slide presentations for the principal investigator and for local and national meetings.
• Perform routine and more difficult procedures, analyze data, and present results through presentations, abstracts, manuscripts, and materials supporting grant writing, preparation, and submission.
