A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada). We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a strong background in biochemistry, molecular biology, nanotechnology and/or biophysical analysis. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research program in membrane structure-function analysis, native nanodisc technology and lipid signaling (https://www.ualberta.ca/en/biochemistry/people/faculty/michael-overduin.html). These research initiatives are supported by NSERC and Alberta Innovates. The styrene maleic acid lipid particle technology is our key analytical platform (see www.SMALP.net). This involves the production and analysis of polymer-based membrane nanodiscs using biophysical instrumentation available (GatorBio Biolayer Interferometry, Fluidic Analytics Fluidity One-M, Malvern Panalytical MicroCal PEAQ ITC and Zetasizer, see www.molscreen.com) as well as size exclusion chromatography-multi-angle light scattering, mass photometry, mass spectrometry, electron microscopy and NMR spectroscopy. We also use a range of nanotechnology, molecular biology and biochemistry tools, cell culture models, and bioinformatics approaches to investigate protein function in cells, membranes and biological samples.
