The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate for a fellowship in malaria clinical trials. The fellow will join a multidisciplinary research team conducting clinical trials on the effectiveness and safety of insecticide-treated baby wraps to prevent malaria in young children. Building on previous findings that these wraps reduced clinical malaria incidence, ongoing studies across sub-Saharan Africa aim to inform malaria prevention policy and implementation strategies. Working closely with principal investigator Ross Boyce, MD, MSc, and collaborating investigators, the fellow will support trial planning, conduct, analysis, and dissemination. The role offers dedicated mentorship and hands-on experience intended to prepare the fellow for an independent research career in global health, infectious diseases, epidemiology, or clinical trials. The fellow will have opportunities to lead manuscripts and complementary sub-studies, present at scientific meetings, contribute to grant applications, and build a professional network in the international malaria research community. Travel to study sites in sub-Saharan Africa is expected, typically for periods of two to three weeks at a time.
