Post-Doc Research Associate (Kelada)

UNC-Chapel Hill•Chapel Hill, NC

About The Position

The Kelada Lab seeks a post-doctoral associate to join a research program investigating the pulmonary response to ozone, an air pollutant. The project focuses on how genetic variation affects ozone responses in mice and aims to link genomic variation, epigenomic status, and gene expression with ozone-induced airway inflammation and injury. Using genetically diverse mice from the Collaborative Cross reference population, the project will investigate pathways through which ozone causes epigenomic and transcriptomic changes in alveolar macrophages and how these changes shape adverse pulmonary responses. The associate will help lead efforts to generate and analyze research datasets. The position offers experience with genomic analysis techniques, the Collaborative Cross mouse resource, and the molecular effects of ozone on the airway. The associate will have opportunities to learn from lab members and the pulmonary and toxicology research communities at UNC, and to work with UNC’s bioinformatics team on analyses of transcriptomic responses to ozone. The project and research environment provide training relevant to future independent research careers in academic or private-company settings. In addition to research, the post-doctoral fellow will contribute to writing scientific papers and presenting talks at scientific meetings.

Requirements

  • Experience with in vitro and/or in vivo models of respiratory or inhalation exposure.
