About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and attentive Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) to join the surgical services team. The nurse provides specialized bedside care to patients recovering from general, regional, or local anesthesia following surgical procedures. The role involves monitoring vital signs and airway stability, managing acute post-operative symptoms, and collaborating with surgical and anesthesia teams to support recovery and safe discharge.

Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• At least 2 years of recent Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) or recovery room nursing experience.
• Advanced hemodynamic monitoring skills.
• Strong airway management skills.
• Rapid critical thinking in emergent situations.
• Strong collaborative communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and temperature, and assess patients’ level of consciousness during recovery from anesthesia.
• Ensure a patent airway and adequate respiratory function, intervening rapidly in cases of obstruction or respiratory distress.
• Administer IV fluids, analgesics, anti-emetics, and other ordered medications to manage post-operative pain, nausea, and surgical discomfort.
• Assess surgical sites, incisions, and dressings for bleeding, drainage, or complications.
• Recognize adverse reactions to anesthesia or surgery and initiate emergency interventions as required.
• Maintain detailed electronic nursing records.
• Communicate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and PACU team members about patient progress and discharge readiness.
