About The Position

Michigan Schools & Government Credit Union (MSGCU) is seeking a Portfolio Specialist to monitor the credit quality of its commercial loan portfolio through financial reviews, delinquency tracking, and policy compliance. The role conducts site visits, supports loan renewals, and prepares risk reporting for leadership. It analyzes portfolio trends—including risk migration, collateral concentrations, and loan mix—to provide insight that strengthens portfolio management. The position gathers and reviews borrower financial statements and supporting documents for annual credit assessments, verifies that cash flow remains sufficient under loan terms, and submits complete review packages to Michigan Business Connection (MBC). It contacts members about missing documentation and potential concerns, monitors delinquent accounts, and follows up to support repayment and limit loss exposure. The Portfolio Specialist also coordinates renewal reviews, recommends approval or modification, conducts annual site visits, documents findings, and supports audits by providing relevant records and responding to requests. The position is based in office and branch environments and requires travel throughout MSGCU’s service area a majority of the time. The team member must provide their own transportation; on-the-job mileage reimbursement is available. The role involves sitting most of the time, with brief periods of walking or standing and occasional lifting or moving of up to 20 pounds. The work environment may include exposure to potentially hazardous conditions such as robbery, with annual security instructions and procedures provided.
