About The Position

The Portfolio Specialist monitors the credit quality of MSGCU’s commercial loan portfolio through financial reviews, delinquency tracking, policy compliance, site visits, loan renewal support, and risk reporting. The role evaluates portfolio trends—including risk-rating migration, collateral concentrations, and loan mix—to provide strategic insight and strengthen portfolio management. The specialist collects and reviews borrower financial statements and supporting documents for annual credit assessments, verifies cash flow against loan terms, follows up with members to obtain missing information, and identifies concerns that could affect risk ratings. Complete review packages are submitted to Michigan Business Connection (MBC) to support sound credit decisions, transparency, and alignment. The role also monitors delinquency reports, contacts members regarding overdue payments, follows up on repayment issues, and alerts stakeholders to policy or documentation concerns. The position coordinates loan renewal reviews, assesses updated member information and creditworthiness, and provides recommendations for approval or modification. It analyzes portfolio performance and emerging risks, conducts annual site visits to verify property conditions, and documents findings for MBC and risk classification. The specialist also compiles portfolio information for decision makers and supports audit preparation by providing documentation and responding to information requests. The position is based in office and branch environments and requires travel throughout MSGCU’s service area a majority of the time. The team member must provide their own transportation and is eligible for on-the-job mileage reimbursement.
