About The Position

Bank of Marin is seeking an on-site Portfolio Manager to join their Commercial Banking Office in Rancho Cordova. This role partners with Relationship Managers to manage the loan application process, focusing on credit analysis, underwriting, documentation, and loan closing for clients. The Portfolio Manager will also ensure the assigned loan portfolio is properly risk-graded, compliant with agreements, and that potential risks are identified and addressed. They will provide quality service to clients, gather information for new loan requests, coordinate with Credit Analysts, and work with credit administration to document and close loans. The position requires an understanding of appropriate loan types and the ability to work independently with some assistance. Responsibilities include monitoring the loan portfolio for risks and maintaining up-to-date loan files, as well as knowledge of deposit, Treasury Services, and other commercial client products. The role operates under moderate supervision.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of accounting, financial accounting, and credit analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work with detailed information in an efficient and accurate manner, while meeting established deadlines.
  • Proficient typing and computer skills, particularly in using Microsoft Office Tools, and the Bank’s current software system.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Motivated individual with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work well with customers and co-workers.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve issues making sound judgments.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and evaluate detailed and complex loan documents.
  • Thorough understanding and familiarity of the bank’s loan policies and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory and legal issues encountered in the completion and closing of complex personal and commercial loans.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the loan application process in partnership with Relationship Managers.
  • Perform credit analysis, underwriting, documentation, and loan closing for assigned prospects and clients.
  • Perform senior credit analyst responsibilities in support of Commercial Banking Officer needs.
  • Ensure assigned loan portfolio is properly risk graded and compliant with loan agreements/approvals.
  • Identify and address potential risks within the loan portfolio.
  • Provide quality service to clients by directing and assisting with needs and inquiries.
  • Gather information for new loan requests.
  • Coordinate with Credit Analysts on loan package preparation and proposals.
  • Work with credit administration to properly document loans.
  • Close loans with borrowers when needed.
  • Monitor current loan portfolio to identify risks.
  • Maintain up-to-date loan files.
  • Understand and be knowledgeable of all deposit and Treasury Services products, as well as other services offered to commercial clients.
