About The Position

The Portfolio Manager (PM) is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the existing commercial loan portfolio and working closely with the Senior Relationship Manager (SRM) who owns the relationship of these accounts. The PM is expected to maintain close contact with these clients and leverage the relationship to identify and bring in additional new business opportunities, both in loans and the Bank’s other products and services. The PM is expected to provide “best-in-class” service to these loan clients while following established Bank’s policies and procedures. This role involves preparing credit analysis and providing opinions and recommendations regarding proposed and loan portfolio credits and potential risks to both the credit profile and collateral securing the transactions, including entering information into nCino, and analyzing cash spread reports. Ensures all due diligence and background evaluation is complete and thorough on a loan request for credit approval.

Requirements

  • College degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Foundational knowledge of accounting principles or relevant experience applying accounting concepts (coursework preferred).
  • Must have a minimum 5-7 years (VP level) or minimum 7-10 years (FVP level) of working experience in analyzing and underwriting varying levels of complex commercial credit, which includes analyzing company and personal financial statements, tax returns, cash flows, various industries, field exams, collateral issues and values, and loan structures.
  • Working knowledge of credit, accounting, credit procedures and financial statement analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial credit policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to present clear and precise recommendations based upon analysis of a loan structure and request.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams and interact effectively with all levels of Bank personnel and outside contacts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and financial spreading programs.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with SRM(s) and Team Managers on the assigned loan portfolio by monitoring and managing the credit quality of such portfolio.
  • Review to ensure each credit is properly risk rated based on the Bank’s risk rating system.
  • Maintain and grow existing client relationships, cross-sell Bank’s other products and services.
  • Specifically accountable for credit underwriting and origination of new credits from the existing client base, portfolio monitoring, renewals, amendments and annual reviews.
  • Work with designated underwriter, loan assistants and other loan support staff to prepare the Credit Commitment Report (“CCR”).
  • Reviews client’s accounts and portfolios in order to identify, evaluate and determine the appropriate course of action on potential credit quality issues in order to maximize credit quality and minimize risk and potential loss to the Bank.
  • Ensure compliance with Bank, regulatory and credit requirements with emphasis on best-in-class customer service while adhering to required timeframes from the client.
