About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Portfolio Manager to join our Baldwin County team. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating new loan opportunities, renewals, and modifications while ensuring strong credit quality and adherence to lending polices and procedures. The Portfolio Manager serves as a key partner to Business Banking Officers and the Market President by providing expertise in credit analysis, deal structuring, loan preparation, and portfolio management. This position plays an important role in maintaining a healthy loan portfolio through proactive risk management, financial analysis, and borrower relationship support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of portfolio management, commercial credit, lending, or related banking experience.
  • Experience analyzing financial statements and assessing business credit risk.
  • Experience using financial analysis software and loan documentation systems preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong time management skills and commitment to accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze new, renewal, and modification loan requests.
  • Evaluate borrower and guarantor financial statements and supporting documentation to determine creditworthiness.
  • Assess financial performance and assign appropriate risk ratings based on credit quality and overall risk exposure.
  • Manage and monitor an assigned portfolio of business loans to ensure compliance with bank lending and credit policies.
  • Proactively identify and address portfolio risks and credit concerns.
  • Partner with Business Banking Officers and the Hattiesburg Market President in structuring, pricing, and preparing loan opportunities.
  • Provide recommendations regarding loan approvals, renewals, and modifications.
  • Assist in determining appropriate loan structures that align with borrower needs and bank objectives.
  • Utilize bank decisioning systems to process, document, and communicate credit decisions.
  • Communicate loan decisions and recommendations effectively with lending staff, branch personnel, and other departments.
  • Serve as a resource to the Hattiesburg Market by providing guidance on credit analysis, underwriting, and loan structure.
  • Support loan officers throughout the due diligence and documentation process.
  • Monitor reports and pipeline activity to maintain efficient processing and timely turnaround of loan requests.
  • Stay informed on current underwriting standards and lending policies.
  • Promote consistent credit quality across loan originations, renewals, and portfolio monitoring activities.
  • Ensure all lending activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
