About The Position

The Portfolio Manager will analyze and underwrite credit requests for Bank prospects and customers, assist with due diligence activities, assist with the loan closing process, and monitor and evaluate risk within the team portfolio. This role involves managing existing customer portfolios by tracking and underwriting loan renewals and annual reviews, monitoring compliance with financial covenants and borrowing base certificates, and preparing for audits. The position also requires identifying potential problem loans and deficiencies, and working closely with Loan Administration and other bank areas to meet customer needs.

Requirements

  • Experience analyzing and underwriting Commercial and Investment Real Estate deals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Formal credit training is preferred
  • Prepare loan memorandums consistently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products, Moody’s Credit Lens, and nCino (preferably)
  • Be well versed in the Bank’s credit policy and underwriting standards
  • Consistently demonstrate behaviors associated with Beacon Bank’s Core Four values: adaptability, accountability, leadership, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and underwrite credit requests in a timely fashion by using resources such as applications, financial spreads, financial statements, tax returns, credit bureaus, appraisals, and web research.
  • Discuss deal structure, cash flow, collateral, and customer character with Relationship Managers (RMs), recommending alternative credit structures or products where appropriate.
  • Assist RMs with preparing deal screen memos, term sheets, and commitment letters.
  • Present analysis in written loan memorandums for appropriate approvals and present to the appropriate approval authority.
  • Determine if requests are in compliance with Bank policy and note exceptions.
  • Interact with attorneys and financial professionals including CPAs, CFOs, etc., as needed to assist in the underwriting and closing process.
  • Manage existing portfolio of customers by tracking and underwriting loan renewals and annual reviews.
  • Monitor compliance of financial covenants and borrowing base certificates.
  • Maintain financial statement and covenant compliance tracking database with updated information.
  • Prepare for internal and external audit requests.
  • Identify potential problem loans and deficiencies.
  • Accompany RMs on customer and prospect calls and interact extensively with customers in person and over the phone.
  • Assist customers with questions regarding loans and retail products.
  • Work closely with Loan Administration and other areas of the Bank to meet customer needs in a timely manner.
