About The Position

Goddard Riverside is seeking a dependable, motivated, and detail-oriented Porter to join our Supportive Housing team. The porter is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, functional, and well-maintained supportive housing residence, consisting of more than 50 residential units for adults, including individuals with mobility impairments. The Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of the building's interior and exterior while providing a welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate is reliable, takes pride in their work, and enjoys working in a team-oriented environment that serves individuals in supportive housing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous porter, janitorial, or custodial experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Able to lift 50lbs, stand for extended periods, walking distances, climbing stairs, operate required equipment power tools, mechanical equipment, etc., climb ladders, enter and exit tight spaces.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in residential or supportive housing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain all common areas, including hallways, stairwells, elevators, lobby, offices, laundry rooms, and community spaces.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize assigned areas daily.
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms and replenish supplies.
  • Remove trash and recycle from throughout the building.
  • Maintain the exterior of the property, including sidewalks, entrances, courtyards, and parking areas.
  • Assist with apartment turnovers by cleaning vacant units before move-in.
  • Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, vandalism, or building damage to management immediately.
  • Assist maintenance staff with moving furniture, supplies, and equipment as needed.
  • Remove snow and ice from walkways and entrances during winter weather, as assigned.
  • Ensure all cleaning equipment and supplies are properly maintained and stored.
  • Follow all OSHA safety standards and agency policies.
  • Interact respectfully and professionally with residents, visitors, vendors, and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
