About The Position

The Pool Attendant is responsible for maintaining an attractive, sanitary, and safe swimming pool environment for residents. This includes managing pool chemicals, maintaining logs, ensuring the availability of necessary equipment and supplies, and adhering to health and safety regulations. The role involves cleaning pool areas, inspecting equipment, evaluating its function, and performing minor repairs to ensure safe and proper operation. The attendant will also manage inventory, prepare purchase orders, respond to inquiries, stock supplies, and assist other personnel as needed. Additional duties may be assigned by supervisory personnel.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of experience in the operation and maintenance of swimming pools
  • Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and basic numbers.
  • Ability to speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrives at meetings and appointments on time.
  • Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Takes responsibility for own actions; Keeps commitments; Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans assigned facilities (e.g. swimming pool, pool deck, equipment areas, showers, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary and safe condition.
  • Inspects swimming pool, deck, mechanical equipment, etc. for the purpose of ensuring that it is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and/or identifying necessary repairs.
  • Evaluates equipment function for the purpose of maintaining facilities and/or complying with mandated health requirements.
  • Maintains pool, including proper chemical and PH rate for the purpose of complying with mandated safety and health requirements.
  • Assists in maintaining swimming pool equipment (e.g. backwashing filters, pump equipment, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Maintains records for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference trail and/or complying with mandated requirements.
  • Monitors inventory levels of chemicals and other pool maintenance supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of supplies as needed.
  • Performs minor repairs to swimming pool equipment and facilities for the purpose of maintaining facilities and equipment in safe operating condition.
  • Prepares purchase orders for the purpose of securing needed supplies.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding swimming pool operations, etc.
  • Stocks chemicals and other supplies for the purpose of maintaining adequate quantities and security of items.
  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
  • Performs other duties or job functions that can be performed safely as required or deemed necessary by supervisory personnel.
