About The Position

As a Polysomnographic Technician, you play a vital role in our mission to improve lives. This role reviews sleep studies scored by other sleep center staff and provides protocol-based feedback, and supports the Manager, Sleep Lab and Sleep Medical Director across sleep center operations. Requirements

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential required.
  • Training in comprehensive sleep testing and analysis, including CPAP, Bi-Level titration, MSLT, and MWT required.
  • One year of sleep technology experience preferred.
  • Prior experience mentoring or providing peer feedback to sleep technology staff.
  • AASM-accredited laboratory experience.
  • Experience with complex titration studies (Bi-Level, MSLT, MWT) in an outpatient or hospital-based sleep center.
  • Computer skills appropriate for EMR documentation and sleep study scoring software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills in interactions with patients, staff, and providers.
  • Critical thinking and ability to work independently with minimal supervision to analyze complex situations and apply sleep center policy.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently while following established sleep center protocols.
  • Ability to review sleep study scoring performed by other staff and provide constructive, protocol-based feedback.
  • Ability to uphold HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Working knowledge of AASM standards and payer coverage requirements for complex sleep testing and titration studies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive sleep testing and analysis, including in-center polysomnography (PSG), CPAP/Bi-Level titration, MSLT, and MWT, under the general supervision of the Sleep Medical Director or designee.
  • Respond to sleep patients’ procedural-related inquiries by providing appropriate education utilizing sleep center specific protocols.
  • Review sleep study scoring performed by other sleep center staff and provide protocol-based feedback.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and standards regarding safety, infection control, and HIPAA/privacy requirements.
  • Perform routine equipment care, maintenance, and inventory evaluation for sleep study equipment.
  • Participate in the quality assurance program.
  • Identify inadequate or failed studies and coordinate repeat testing with the ordering provider.
  • Adhere to sleep center policies and procedures and comply with professional standards of conduct.
  • Assist the Manager, Sleep Lab, Sleep Medical Director, and/or clinical director in all aspects of sleep center operations.
  • Maintain current CPR or BLS certification and complete required continuing education (CEUs) yearly.
  • Escalate complex patient-care, equipment, or safety issues to the Manager, Sleep Lab or Sleep Medical Director as appropriate.
