About The Position

A Polysomnographic Trainee develops competency in and performs the basics of polysomnographic testing and associated interventions under clinical guidance of a Polysomnographic Technologist. This role collaborates with the Medical Director, Leadership, staff and patients to achieve optimal efficiency and success in sleep disorder function testing and scoring.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• BLS certified or obtained within 6 months of hire
• Interpersonal skills necessary to explain procedures to patient to alleviate their apprehensions and gain their cooperation

Nice To Haves

• An associate’s degree in an allied healthcare field (respiratory care or neurodiagnostics)
• 6 months of direct patient care
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit(s) or by their department
• Requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served
• Analytical skills necessary to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative statistical data and conduct diagnostic procedures
