In a trainee role, the Polysomnographic Technician provides physicians and patients with the necessary support to facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders and promote good sleep. Under the mentorship of a registered technologist, the technician performs diagnostic sleep testing, which includes but is not limited to order interpretation, medication administration, patient hook-up and monitoring, BLS responsibility, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) initiation and titration, oxygen administration, and other related duties. The role also involves documenting findings and patient responses consistent with guidelines, reporting equipment problems, and actively participating in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures, completing all relevant competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
