Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager, the Polysomnographic Technician Apprentice functions as a trainee and follows established policies and procedures to support functions essential to the operations of the Sleep Lab. The Polysomnographic Technician Apprentice will receive training and instruction to perform polysomnographic testing. The apprenticeship program will help build, develop, and train aspiring individuals into a successful healthcare career. The apprenticeship is slated to start Monday, March 23 2026. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association required upon hire or to be obtained within 6-months of hire.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Nice To Haves

  • Current enrollment in an accredited educational program leading either to an Associate's degree or certificate with an emphasis on polysomnography.
  • Minimum six months direct patient care experience.
  • One year healthcare-related post-secondary education may substitute for stated experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients and equipment for ordered testing.
  • Interviews patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures.
  • Performs and documents testing.
  • Monitors patient throughout testing and intervenes as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues.
  • Scores, interprets and reports results of sleep studies.
  • Prepares, calibrates, repairs and maintains equipment required for testing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
