About The Position

Etsy is seeking a Policy Enforcement Manager to define and uphold the company's Creativity Standards, ensuring that items sold on the marketplace align with Etsy’s core principle of supporting human creativity. This is a full-time position reporting to the Manager of Creativity Standards. The role is based in Etsy's Brooklyn Office, requiring presence one to two times per week. Candidates living within commutable distance of the Brooklyn Office Hub will be considered first. The role is part of the Creativity Standard team within Etsy’s Trust & Safety organization, focusing on policy enforcement and seller education. The team collaborates cross-functionally to develop clear policies, provide guidance to sellers, and enforce standards while balancing marketplace integrity with a positive seller experience.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in policy enforcement/Trust & Safety at Etsy or elsewhere in a related industry.
  • Proven track record in managing cross-functional teams and projects from inception to completion.
  • Ability to build relationships with cross-functional partners remotely and across geographies, with excellent influencing and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to handle high-stakes situations and manage crisis response effectively.
  • Leadership, resilience, and sensitivity in navigating change and handling sophisticated and/or potentially triggering content.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills with a focused expertise in identifying trends, patterns, or emerging problems in data.
  • Proactive in nature, always looking for ways to improve processes, tooling, and collaboration with other teams.
  • Strong sense of accountability and appropriate prioritization; clear communication, expectation setting, and timely delivery.
  • Strong understanding of the creative process and online creative platforms.

  • Hands-on experience with Trust & Safety tooling and platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own policy enforcement and operations, developing expertise in vertical policies and protocols, managing and reporting on enforcement activities, and leading implementation for policy, taxonomy, or workflow changes.
  • Partner across the business with Policy, Analytics, Product, and Engineering to drive collaborative projects, maintain feedback loops, and advise on quarterly roadmaps and goals.
  • Lead investigations and escalations for high-priority cases, coordinating with Policy, Legal, Marketing, Comms, and Brand to resolve policy incidents.
  • Surface risks and shape solutions by spotting emerging abuse trends, conducting data-informed analyses (post-mortems, deep dives), and translating findings into actionable solutions for Product and Engineering partners.
  • Mentor and develop the team, advising Enforcement Specialists on trend spotting and data literacy.
  • Lead a strategic business area, owning focus areas within the Ops vertical such as policy and workflow expansion, QA and training, process and tooling improvements, or controls and detection.
  • Drive performance and tooling by monitoring operational metrics to meet or exceed KPI and SLA targets, flagging anomalies, and partnering with Analytics for reporting.
  • Work with Product and Engineering to sharpen enforcement tools and improve the moderation experience for internal and partner teams.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time for team collaboration, events, or other business needs.
