About The Position

The New York City Police Department (NYPD) aims to enhance the quality of life in New York City through law enforcement, peace preservation, public protection, fear reduction, and order maintenance. The Strategic Initiatives Bureau, within the NYPD, focuses on long-term, enterprise-wide transformation by evaluating policies, programs, and resources to maximize organizational effectiveness. This bureau acts as a primary advisor to the Police Commissioner on strategic goals and explores new technologies and innovative solutions for public safety. The Strategic Initiatives Bureau oversees several offices, including the Office of Strategic Initiatives, the Office of Management, Analysis and Planning (OMAP), and the Project and Change Management Offices (PMO/CMO). The Project Management Office within the Strategic Initiatives Bureau is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Policy Analyst. This role operates under the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Strategic Initiatives and is responsible for coordinating and managing diverse projects across the Department. The Policy Analyst will manage the full lifecycle of major improvement projects and new initiatives, providing analytical and technical assistance for the planning, coordination, and implementation of large and complex projects.

Responsibilities

  • Working directly with project team members to develop project plans, scope of work, track progress and achieve deliverables
  • Generating various project-related documents including requirement specifications, contracts, schedules, project plans, and presentations, meeting agendas, minutes and status reports.
  • Supporting the facilitation of meetings with stakeholders and team members to discuss project progress.
  • Prepare and deliver informative, well-organized presentations
  • Receive and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion
  • Understand how and when to communicate difficult/sensitive information appropriately
