About The Position

The Policy Analyst is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Corporate Policy & Procedure Program. Responsibilities include the research, creation, review, development, communication, maintenance of Council and Corporate policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Degree in Public or Business Administration, Political Science, Communications or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and critical conceptual thinking with strong reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
  • Supplementary education and experience in local government and leadership.
  • Highly developed leadership skills and the ability to work with elected officials, senior management, and department professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability in fostering and maintaining effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the development, review, and improvement of corporate and Council policies and procedures.
  • Research municipal issues and provide policy options, recommendations, and drafting support to senior management and departments.
  • Review legislation and regulatory changes impacting City policies.
  • Gather stakeholder input and liaise with other governments and municipalities to support policy development.
  • Manage the corporate policy lifecycle, including maintenance, approvals, tracking, and communication.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and City standards; prepare reports to Council committees.
  • Conduct compliance audits, recommend program improvements, and assist departments with legislative impact analysis.
  • Develop and deliver training and communicate policy updates to staff and leadership.
  • Participate in and comply with the City’s health and safety programs and legislative requirements.
