About The Position

Under general supervision, provides technical support for all agencies on shared law enforcement database system and performs a variety of duties and responsibilities within the police records division. Compiles and maintains various records in the Police Department, provides telephone support for the department, assists citizens. Maintains and uses the police department's record data base (Spillman) system.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree with a technical emphasis from an accredited college preferred.
  • Must be proficient with PC technology and Microsoft Desktop operating systems.
  • Two (2) years' of experience in an information technology field.
  • Ability to implement projects with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to become proficient in: Redhat Linux Server, Spillman/Sentryx Law Enforcement Database System, Spillman Law Enforcement Sentryx-Geobase/GIS Mapping Module.
  • Must have working knowledge of Spillman third party interfaces and connectivity and understanding of the 800 MHz Radio system functionality.
  • Ability to obtain the following Certifications: State CCIC/NCIC, and CCRN.
  • Current Colorado driver's license with acceptable record.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with server and database maintenance for Spillman system; interface and audits included in addressing in Spillman Law Enforcement Sentryx-Geobase/GIS Mapping Module.
  • Assist in programming and maintaining the 800 MHz Radio system.
  • Complete and update documentation for police department's computer and radio systems.
  • Assist in daily backups on all law enforcement databases.
  • Set up state and federal database connectivity on police department computers, assist all agencies regarding Spillman and third party interface issues.
  • Setup, start and stop server processes, enter new accounts, update proper codes and lock employee accounts on the Linux Server and complete the setup in Spillman/Sentryx Law Enforcement Database System.
  • Maintain and replace radio equipment when requested.
  • Understand patrol vehicle equipment layout.
  • Troubleshoot differences between vehicle mechanical vs equipment issues.
  • Assist with compiling crime statistics reports from the Spillman server and other systems when requested.
  • Facilitates the exchange of database information with crime mapping and other related analytical software packages.
  • Work with IT staff in developing and coordinating in maintaining an effective and efficient partnership related to all aspects of software/hardware acquisition and interface, design/development, inventory, upgrades and systems maintenance.
  • Train users and other peers in use of police application programs and systems providing ongoing technical support to ensure users maintain appropriate skills.
  • Troubleshoot and correct routine problems with computer hardware and software.
  • Work with IT for hardware replacement.
  • Consult with IS and vendors for more difficult problems.
