About The Position

The Department of Public Safety at the University of Southern Maine is hiring a Police Specialist. This role involves general policing, safety, and emergency response functions, with a strong emphasis on community policing and problem-solving. Police Specialists perform duties similar to a Police Officer, including law enforcement, community policing, solving complex community/campus problems, and security service delivery. Requirements

Certified law enforcement officer
At least three years of law enforcement experience
High school diploma or GED
Valid Class C Maine driver’s license

Responsibilities

Perform general policing, safety, and emergency response functions.
Engage in community policing and problem-solving.
Lead the department's investigatory processes.
Provide subject matter expertise in investigations.
Deliver security services.
