About The Position

Performs duties as a commissioned Police Officer related to maintaining a safe and secure environment on campus. Patrols campus area and facilities; investigates any suspicious behavior or circumstances; resolve disturbances or crimes. May serve as a field training officer for new police officers. Depending on level, responsibilities may increase to include conducting on-scene and follow-up investigations, providing first line supervision for shift's platoon of police officers and dispatchers.

Requirements

High School graduate or equivalent
good physical condition
good communications skills
valid Class D driver’s license
Police Officer’s Standards Training (P.O.S.T.) certified
two years of supervisory experience

Responsibilities

Patrols campus area and facilities.
Performs supervisory duties in the absence of the shift lieutenant, such as ensuring that proper procedures are followed on the scenes of calls for police service.
Responds to, investigates, and resolves disturbances or other crimes; disturbing the peace; issues warnings; takes custody of serious offenders.
Serves as a training officer for new police officers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Administers first aid procedures as needed; transports persons with illnesses or injuries to medical facilities.
Conducts investigations, reviews and approves reports.
Directs traffic, gives directions, provides assistance to faculty, students, staff, and visitors.
Locks and unlocks buildings according to schedule; admits authorized personnel into buildings.
Notes, reports, and investigates any suspicious behavior or circumstances; ensures that unauthorized personnel vacate restricted areas.
