Requirements

  • Three years of law enforcement experience.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
  • An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
  • Applicants must have Civil Service test scores for the 2100-Protective Services Exam (PSE) to be considered for this vacancy unless exempted by Civil Service rules or policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise marine law enforcement operations, directing Police Officers I–III, overseeing patrol activities, managing staffing and performance, and assuming command responsibilities during the absence of the Watch Commander.
  • Conduct maritime security, rescue, and emergency response operations, including boat patrols, critical infrastructure protection, search and recovery efforts, firefighting support, and coordination with maritime agencies such as the U.S. Coast Guard.
  • Manage critical incidents and administrative functions, including major incident response, personnel investigations, report review and approval, dispatch oversight, equipment inspections, and enforcement of Port, local, state, and federal regulations.
