The Police Records Supervisor supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals. This role coordinates daily work activities by organizing, prioritizing, and assigning work, developing work schedules to ensure adequate coverage, creating and distributing work schedules and assignments, approving leave time and reviewing usage, monitoring status of work in progress, and inspecting completed work. The supervisor consults with assigned staff, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise. This position also receives, reviews, prepares, and processes department documents such as police incident and criminal investigation reports, accident reports, citations, warrants, and impound records. Responsibilities include verifying, completing, and/or coding required information, entering and updating information into department databases, resolving discrepancies and disputed information in reports, and ensuring information is served as liaison between officers and customers. The role involves creating new files and purging old data as appropriate, and maintaining copies in department files. Additionally, the supervisor utilizes Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminals to conduct background and criminal history checks, enter information regarding tags, drivers licenses, warrants, missing persons, and stolen property, and obtain, retrieve, and relay information to police officers, detectives, other law enforcement, or other staff as requested. The role also performs general customer service functions, processes requests for records and reports, interprets and applies applicable codes, laws, rules, and regulations, prepares daily deposits, conducts orientation and training for new and current employees, facilitates and/or attends meetings, prepares various forms and reports, receives and processes various documentation, and communicates with supervisor, other County departments, employees, the public, attorneys, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed. The supervisor operates a personal computer and general office equipment to complete essential functions.
