About The Position

The Sidney Police Department is seeking individuals who love to help others and are motivated to make their community a better place to live and work. Sidney is an agricultural community of approximately 6,500 people in eastern Montana, near the North Dakota border, in the Yellowstone Valley. The community has experienced changes due to the Bakken oil shale exploration.

Requirements

  • Must be a citizen of the United States
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a good driving record, and possess or ability to obtain a Montana driver's license by time of appointment
  • Ability to obtain POST certification within twelve (12) months of hire
  • No FELONY convictions
  • No MISDEMEANOR convictions within the last 5 years
  • Ability to legally possess a firearm
  • Must be of good moral character
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Willing and able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • Must be of sound physical and mental health
  • Ability to perform essential functions of this position
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to react quickly and effectively to stressful situations

  • Wage: $32.67 - $36.02 DOE Starting (Non-POST Certified)
  • $32.67 1-2 years

  • Shift differential pay: $1.00/hr, $1.50/hr, or $2.00/hr depending on the shift.
