About The Position

The Webster Police Department of Webster, Texas is looking to hire a full-time Police Officer. Our police officers start at $75,836 and our police cadets start at $68,941. Certified applicants may receive up to a $10,000 hiring incentive paid over the first year. Lateral applicants may also receive service credit (1:1) for up to 5 years. All job-related equipment except the handgun is provided. Our police department staff is comprised of 55 sworn personnel and 22 civilian employees whose mission is to provide a safe environment for those who reside, visit, and work in our community. Requirements

  • United States citizen
  • Must hold TCOLE peace officer license OR currently enrolled in a basic peace officer course
  • 21 years old and TCOLE certified OR 20 years old if currently enrolled in a basic peace officer course
  • Ability to successfully pass a physical entry test, written entry test, oral review board, polygraph examination, psychological screening, functional capacity test, and drug screen
  • Valid driver's license issued by the State of Texas
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Service-oriented
  • Love for Texas and particularly what a city like Webster has to offer
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Confident and able to exercise good judgment

Responsibilities

  • Patrolling the streets to detect and deter crime
  • Investigating crimes and accidents
  • Enforcing local ordinances and state laws
  • Securing crime scenes and collecting evidence
  • Providing honest testimony in municipal, state, and federal courts
  • Preparing reports for investigations and accidents
  • Keeping track of evidence, paperwork, warrants, and equipment
  • Attending all training and keeping certification up to date
