About The Position

The Police Officer is responsible for the protection and safety of all center staff, patients, and visitors. Patrols all areas of the FMC main campus, off-site locations in and outside of the city. Responds to radio-dispatched, citizen-reported, or directly observed calls for police action. Conducts preliminary investigations of crimes, accidents, and suspicious or dangerous incidents. Responds to the scenes of accidents, emergencies, and disasters and removes people from dangerous situations. Makes arrests and takes persons into custody. Inspects, maintains, and drives motor vehicles. Appears and testifies at trials and hearings. Completes forms, records, and composes reports.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of the State of Ohio required police training program and State Certification examination required.
  • Valid State of Ohio Drivers License.
  • Exerting up to 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible up to 10 pounds amount of force often.

Nice To Haves

  • An associates degree in Police Science or Criminal Justice preferred.
  • One year of police experience preferred.
