About The Position

The City of Greenville Police Department is seeking individuals interested in a law enforcement career to fill the position of Police Officer Trainee. This role offers compensation to attend an approved Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) academy for approximately five months of intensive physical and educational training. Upon successful completion and certification, trainees will become certified North Carolina Police Officers with the City of Greenville. Trainees will be paid $23.32 per hour ($1,865.60/biweekly) while attending BLET. This is a continuous recruitment and may close without notice.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • No experience required.
  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Must be a high school graduate or have passed the General Educational Development (GED) test.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must be at least 20 years of age by December 2026.
  • Must be of good moral character with no disqualifying criminal conviction(s).
  • Must undergo an extensive background investigation including, but not limited to, polygraph exam, psychological evaluation, medical exam, and drug screen.
  • Must successfully complete a physical agility test and oral interviews.
  • Must meet any other minimum employment requirements established by the City of Greenville.
