About The Position

Join the Roseville Police Department in the role of Police Officer Trainee. The Human Resources Department is accepting applications for the Limited-term Full-time position of Police Officer Trainee in the Roseville Police Department. The appointee(s) will attend a P.O.S.T. certified basic academy during regular academy hours and any other scheduled departmental and academy exercise and activities. Successful completion of the academy is required to continue employment and be promoted to a Police Officer. This is the entry level class in the Police Officer series. Positions in this class typically have little or no directly related work experience and work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks. The Police Officer Trainee class is distinguished from the Police Officer level by the performance of less than the full range of duties assigned to the Officer level. Incumbents work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks, progressing to general supervision as procedures and processes of assigned area of responsibility are learned.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, GED, or other high school equivalency test approved by the California Department of Education or a higher level degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • Possession of a valid California driver’s license by date of appointment.
  • Must be age 21 by date of appointment.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid certificates within first 12 months of employment.
  • PELLET-B Written Examination with a minimum acceptable t-score cut-off of 50 (fifty) within the past year of your application date.
  • Pass a Performance Test evaluating ability to physically perform the duties of position.
  • Pass an Oral Interview evaluating training, experience, and personal qualifications.
  • Pass a thorough background investigation, including criminal record, polygraph, driving history, credit history, military record, previous employer(s), and references.
  • Successfully complete a thorough medical examination, including a drug screen.
  • Pass a psychological evaluation for suitability for employment as a Roseville Police Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sworn law enforcement and crime prevention duties involved in the protection of life and property.
  • Perform a variety of technical and administrative tasks in support of law enforcement services and activities.
  • Attend a P.O.S.T. certified basic academy during regular academy hours and any other scheduled departmental and academy exercise and activities.
  • Successfully complete the academy to continue employment and be promoted to a Police Officer.
