Requirements

  • AZ State certification as a Police Officer
  • United States Citizenship
  • Ability to pass a background investigation
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Arizona driver’s license (or the ability to get one)
  • Successful completion of the National Police Officer Selection Test (POST) with an overall passing score of 70%
  • Successful completion of physical agility testing
  • Successful completion of a writing assignment
  • Successful completion of an oral board interview
  • Successful completion of a polygraph examination
  • Successful completion of a background investigation
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a pre-approved testing process including running, jumping, climbing stairs, low crawling, broad jumping, moving/dragging a weight (150 pounds), climbing a fence (chain-link/four feet), climbing through a window, and changing direction on the run.
  • Complete a writing assignment.
  • Participate in an oral board interview.
  • Undergo a background investigation.
  • Potentially take a polygraph examination.
  • Take the National Police Officer Selection Test (POST) online, which consists of Arithmetic, Reading Comprehension, Grammar, and Incident Report Writing.
  • Complete physical agility testing.
  • Submit to a pre-employment drug test.
