Performs entry-level work managing property and evidence for the Spokane Police Department (SPD), Spokane County Sheriff's Office (SCSO), and Spokane Valley Police Department, maintaining the chain of custody for all evidence, found/safekeeping property, and jail refused property, as well as court order surrender items. This role involves receiving, storing, releasing, transporting, and maintaining the security of a wide variety of submitted items, including firearms, controlled substances, currency, vehicles, and hazardous materials. The technician assists in logging property and evidence, assigning storage locations, and providing depositions to attorneys. They act as a liaison for citizens and agencies, research evidence disposal, and determine property value for resale or disposal. The position also includes performing background checks for firearm releases, handling firearms, assisting with building security, conducting audits, and maintaining the Evidence Facility.
