Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must have ability to obtain valid driver’s license
  • Must have successfully completed the Basic Telecommunicator Proficiency license through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement within the first year of employment
  • Must have a basic working knowledge of computers and computer programs
  • Must be physically and psychologically fit, able to successfully pass any required company evaluations, pass an extensive background investigation and any other state commissioning requirements
  • Must have a broad knowledge of criminal law and procedures
  • Must be able to meet any government or Company training and retention standards
  • Must be willing and able to work 12-hour shifts (3 days on and 3 days off).

Nice To Haves

  • College Degree
  • Minimum of three years full-time experience at a city, county, state, federal or railroad law enforcement agency Telecommunications 911/Emergency dispatch call center is strongly preferred
  • Advanced Telecommunicator license
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Receive and handle emergency telephone calls from governmental and public safety agencies, Resource Protection personnel, BNSF employees and the general public.
  • Perform a primary contact function and serve as an information source for Resource Protection as well as other BNSF departments.
  • Provide pertinent contact services for BNSF customers.
  • Coordinate Response to emergencies.
  • Monitor physical access to the Network Operations Center and other facilities at corporate headquarters.
  • Monitor various environmental and fire alarm systems.
  • Provide accurate, detailed reports and testimony when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
