About The Position

Inova Alexandria Hospital is looking for a dedicated Point of Care Program Coordinator to join their team! This position will be Full-Time Day Shift: Monday-Friday, Every Other Weekend. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Histo/Cyto Technology, Chemistry, Biology or Physical Science.
• 3 years of relevant experience
• ASCP or AMT Board certification consistent with scope of responsibility to include MT, MLS, MLT, BB, SBB, C, H, M, SH, SCT, MB, SMB, SM, SC, and HEW.

Nice To Haves

• Point of Care and Quality Assurance experience is a must.

Responsibilities

• The Point of Care Program Coordinator designs and implements an appropriate plan for all Point of Care operators to ensure consistent education, training and competency assessments.
• Develops and implement a quality management plan for the Point of Care testing program.
• Manages all administrative and operational aspects of the Point of Care testing program.
• Provides technical and supervisory direction to ensure that all Point of Care testing complies with standards established by Laboratory Services, CAP, CLIA, The Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies.
• Reviews, evaluates, and validates new instrument systems or Point of Care tests prior to introduction into the clinical setting.
• Leads POCT Committee quarterly meetings with representatives from testing units; Serves as a Liaison with clinicians, nurses, laboratorians and other healthcare providers to ensure successful/appropriate POCT.
• Other duties as assigned
