About The Position

Pod Support at Linden Grove Middle School, Monday-Friday, 7:45 am - 3:00 pm. This role follows the district calendar for half-day and no-school days. The hourly rate is $16.63-$18.84. The scope of responsibilities includes supervising students in common areas, helping students achieve positive behavior, and addressing and correcting behavior constructively and safely in accordance with Kalamazoo Public Schools policies, procedures, expectations, educational and treatment goals, safety, and security.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or accredited equivalency.
• Evidence of effective oral communication skills.
• Evidence of behavior that demonstrates a positive role model for students.
• Availability for employment during school hours for the school year.
• Previous record of good attendance.
• Ability and willingness to follow guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide student supervision to Secondary Education students in areas such as the hallways, gymnasium, cafeteria, locker rooms, bathrooms, lunch room, etc.
• Assist students with reflections and de-escalation.
• Escort students in transition (i.e., entering and exiting the building, in the hallways between classes, into and out of breakfast/lunch) as necessary.
• Communicate with students in a calm, but firm manner.
• Assist in problem solving appropriate strategies.
• Assist in implementing school and/or classroom rules.
• Small group activities supervision.
• Morning and lunch time supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
