Canada enshrined the right to housing in the National Housing Strategy Act in 2019, yet housing and homelessness remain pervasive challenges in communities across the country. This seminar covers the history and current landscape of Canadian housing and homelessness policy. Students will learn about the multi-level governance challenges, the influence of public opinion, financialization and the emerging rights-based policies and practices for addressing the ongoing housing and homelessness crisis.
