About The Position

Examines the history and evolution of terrorism, and the relative impact of terrorism upon contemporary international relations, the state and domestic societies. The course addresses several themes, such as the contested nature of the concept of terrorism and its causes, the motivations of actors, the structure and organization of terrorist groups, the relationship of terrorism to the changing nature of warfare and technology, and the nature of writings and ideologies that incite political violence.

Requirements

  • MA degree.
  • Qualifications in Political Science, Global Governance, International Relations, or a related discipline.
  • Internal members of the CTF bargaining unit.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver lectures (seminar) for the course PO487: The Study of Terrorism in Context.
  • Address themes including the history and evolution of terrorism, its impact on international relations, the state, and domestic societies.
  • Discuss the contested nature of terrorism, its causes, actor motivations, and the structure/organization of terrorist groups.
  • Explore the relationship between terrorism, warfare, technology, and ideologies inciting political violence.
