About The Position

The Transformation Program Manager leads and coordinates strategic initiatives and cross-functional workstreams across Smiths Detection Inc. (SDI). The role establishes consistent program and project governance, provides transparency into progress and performance, manages risks and interdependencies, and ensures that enterprise initiatives remain aligned with SDI’s strategic and financial priorities. Working closely with executive sponsors, functional leaders and workstream owners, the position converts strategic objectives into structured execution plans with clearly defined scope, milestones, resources, accountabilities, performance measures and expected business benefits. The role serves as the central point of coordination for designated SDI programs and other strategic initiatives requiring collaboration across multiple functions. The position may directly manage priority projects while also providing governance, tools, coaching and oversight to functional project and workstream leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management, engineering, finance, operations, organizational change or a related discipline required
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in program management, project management, business transformation, strategy execution or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in management consulting, private equity, investment banking, corporate strategy, or enterprise transformation, with demonstrated experience supporting complex, cross-functional initiative
  • Strong enterprise program-management, portfolio-management and governance capabilities.
  • Ability to translate strategic objectives into practical execution plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, align and hold stakeholders accountable without relying on direct authority.
  • Strong facilitation, negotiation, conflict-resolution and decision-support skills.
  • Ability to identify and manage risks, issues, dependencies and resource constraints across multiple workstreams.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, including experience with business cases, budgets, cost-benefit analysis and benefits realization.
  • Working knowledge of organizational change-management principles and adoption practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear executive-level reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint and project or portfolio-management tools; experience with Power BI is preferred.
  • Experience with enterprise business systems, such as ERP, CRM, HRIS or similar platforms, is preferred.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment while managing multiple strategic priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain composure, exercise sound judgment and lead effectively in high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain an enterprise program management framework for designated SDI strategic initiatives and transformation programs.
  • Translate strategic priorities into integrated program plans, including scope, objectives, milestones, deliverables, resource requirements, dependencies, performance measures and expected business outcomes.
  • Coordinate cross-functional workstreams involving Operations, Programs, Service, Supply Chain, Finance, HR, Sales, Commercial, Engineering, Quality, IT and other applicable functions.
  • Partner with executive sponsors and functional leaders to establish workstream ownership, decision rights, governance forums and escalation protocols.
  • Manage the portfolio of designated enterprise initiatives, including project intake, evaluation, prioritization, sequencing and resource-capacity considerations.
  • Develop and maintain integrated program roadmaps showing major milestones, cross-functional dependencies, critical paths and implementation timing.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting to the SDI Leadership Team on program status, achievements, risks, issues, dependencies, decisions required and expected business impact.
  • Identify risks, resource constraints and competing priorities that could affect execution; facilitate resolution and escalate material issues when necessary.
  • Facilitate executive steering committee meetings, workstream reviews, planning sessions and decision-making forums.
  • Ensure decisions, action items, owners and due dates are documented, communicated and monitored through completion.
  • Develop standardized program-management tools, templates, reporting practices and governance standards that can be used across SDI.
  • Provide project-management guidance, coaching and support to functional project leaders and workstream owners.
  • Lead or coordinate organizational change-management activities, including stakeholder analysis, change-impact assessments, communications, training readiness and adoption planning.
  • Partner with Finance and business leaders to define expected benefits, establish performance baselines and monitor financial and operational benefits realization.
  • Evaluate program performance against approved business cases, timelines, budgets, resource plans and success measures.
  • Recommend the initiation, reprioritization, acceleration, pause or termination of projects based on strategic alignment, business value, execution risk and organizational capacity.
  • Directly manage selected high-priority projects or workstreams when centralized ownership is required.
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, transparency and disciplined execution across functional and organizational boundaries.
