PMIC Design Engineer, Staff

Qualcomm•Tempe, AZ
•$131,000 - $196,600

About The Position

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Staff-level PMIC Design Engineer to define, design, verify, and document mixed-signal and/or power management integrated circuits. The role supports products across business units including automotive, IoT, and cellular, working with cross-functional teams to meet industry and customer standards and advance connected computing initiatives. The engineer determines architectural and circuit-level implementations from system requirements, owns PMIC design and verification strategies, and uses design tools to develop block-, module-, or chip-level architectures. The role includes collaborating with layout engineers on circuit layout and physical verification, and documenting circuit implementation, control, and testability while considering compatibility, safety, manufacturability, and compliance. This position works independently with minimal supervision and provides guidance to other team members. It involves significant decisions that may affect work beyond the immediate group, and requires communication, planning, problem-solving, and prioritization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 6 or more years of analog, mixed-signal, or power management integrated circuit design experience; or a master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and 4 or more years of such experience; or a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field and 2 or more years of such experience.
  • At least 2 years of academic and/or work experience using CADENCE, SPICE, MATLAB, and/or Verilog/VHDL.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 6 years of analog, mixed-signal, or power management integrated circuit design experience.
  • At least 6 years of experience in one or more of: power electronics, control theory, precision oscillators, high-accuracy data converters and analog front ends, high-bandwidth linear amplifiers, very-low-power references, electromigration and transistor reliability, behavioral modeling, or UVI techniques.
  • At least 1 year in a technical leadership role.

Responsibilities

  • Define, design, verify, and document critical mixed-signal and/or power management integrated circuits.
  • Determine critical architectural design and circuit-level implementations based on system-level requirements.
  • Apply expertise in power electronics, control theory, precision oscillators, high-accuracy data converters and analog front ends, high-bandwidth linear amplifiers, very-low-power references, electromigration and transistor reliability, behavioral modeling, and UVI techniques from system definition and simulation through circuit design and verification.
  • Own PMIC design and verification strategies.
  • Use tools and applications to develop advanced architecture and design for a block, module, or chip.
  • Collaborate with layout engineers to generate circuit layouts and conduct physical verification.
  • Document circuit implementation, control, and testability for a PMIC or PMU, considering compatibility, safety, manufacturability, and compliance.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and provide supervision or guidance to other team members.
  • Plan, solve problems, and prioritize tasks to complete work without defined steps.

Benefits

  • Competitive annual discretionary bonus program.
  • Opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for the annual bonus).
  • Competitive benefits package designed to support employees at work, at home, and at play.
