The PM&R Physician will provide professional medical services on a full-time basis to patients of assigned hospital(s). Such services shall include those services which are customarily performed by physicians practicing in the specialty of physical and rehabilitation medicine including, but not limited to rounding and consultations on patients. The physician will collaborate with the Facility’s leadership, staff, and other practitioners and consultants to help develop, implement and evaluate patient care policies and procedures that reflect current standards of practice. The role involves identifying, evaluating, and addressing medical and clinical concerns that affect patient care, medical care, or quality of life. Key responsibilities include the evaluation, diagnosis, consultation, and management of patients with physical and/or cognitive impairment and disability, including the diagnosis and treatment of painful or functionally limiting conditions, management of co-morbidities, diagnostic and therapeutic injection procedures, electro-diagnostic medicine, and emphasis on preventing complications of disability. The physician will also assess and stabilize patients with emergent conditions, perform general history and physical examinations, pre-admission assessments, and lead interdisciplinary team conferences. Additionally, the physician is responsible for maintaining complete and accurate medical records in compliance with regulatory, legal, and accrediting standards.
