About The Position

The honing team leader serves as a resource for employees by providing knowledge, skills, and support. The role requires expertise in honing procedures and ensuring employees comply with them. The team lead sets up machines according to setup instructions and best practices, operates honing equipment, and coordinates workflow between the supervisor and honing team members.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 5 years of manufacturing experience.
At least 5 years of machine operating experience.
Ability to read and write numbers.
Good computer knowledge and skills.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Strong written and spoken communication skills in English.
Ability to actively engage in continuous improvement.
Organizational and time-management skills.
Decision-making skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

Hone and operate all honing machines.
Provide expert knowledge of honing machines.
Monitor production flow and general workflow in the assigned area.
Ensure procedures and standard work are followed consistently and correctly.
Read honing setup instructions and set up machines accordingly.
Monitor employees for safe operations and ensure personal protective equipment is worn correctly.
Communicate regularly with the supervisor and promptly report issues.
Hone a variety of parts and valves, including blindhole, throughhole, and straight-finish parts.
Ensure machines always have two jobs.
Read target-area control tolerances.
Read drawings and blueprints.
Manage workflow between the supervisor and honing team members.
