About The Position

Assist the Unit Supervisors/Managers in overseeing the functioning of the therapeutic milieu where a safe, consistent environment is maintained and assists clients in growing emotionally, socially, physically, educationally, recreationally, and spiritually. Guide milieu staff to engage residents in trauma-informed, developmentally-appropriate, culturally-sensitive activities and interactions designed to improve behavior, provide support, and promote healthy development so there can be a successful transition to a community-based setting. Provide crisis management, coverage on units as needed, and assistance monitoring program activities. Assume on-call responsibilities during shift and execute the use of appropriate protocol when navigating crisis situations. As assigned, be certified in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention [TCI] and conduct associated trainings, debriefings, consultations, and oversight of behavior management procedures and practices.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED certificate
Good physical and mental health (DCFS Rule 404)
Able to lift 40 pounds and stand for the majority of an 8-hour shift
Bachelor’s degree in the human services field, OR a Bachelor’s degree in a non-human services field plus two years of supervised clinical experience in a mental health setting, OR a high school diploma/GED and five years of supervised clinical experience in a mental health setting (to provide billable Medicaid services per DCFS Rule 132)
Effective written and oral communication skills
Leadership and organization skills
Sound professional judgment and problem-solving ability
Sound ability to deliver concepts and engage in public speaking (if hired to train)
Nurturing, able to set healthy limits, teach/model skills, open to learning and supervision, reliable, builds respectful rapport, collaborative, works effectively with interdisciplinary treatment team members
Valid driver’s license and auto insurance
Sensitivity and respect for diverse individuals and communities

Responsibilities

Execute appropriate protocol when navigating crisis situations.
Be certified in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) as assigned.
Conduct TCI trainings, debriefings, consultations, and oversight of behavior management procedures and practices as assigned.
