About The Position

Maintain the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gases by providing minor plumbing services and assisting licensed plumbers. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems in district facilities. Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as district policies, procedures, and regulations.

Requirements

High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
Three (3) years experience in plumbing field.
Texas/New Mexico driver's license.
Must be insurable by the district's auto liability insurance carrier.
Subject to district drug and alcohol testing policy and regulation.
Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, installation techniques, plumbing codes.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems.
Ability to use hand and power tools, pipe bender, propane torch, sewer rooter, heavy equipment, including forklift, trencher, backhoe.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, sprinkler, and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
Perform pressure tests as needed.
Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete minor repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Receive, prioritize, and complete work orders in a timely manner; allow time for emergency situations as needed.
Select material and hardware and make time and material estimates.
Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, operating a district vehicle, using tools, and equipment, etc.
Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
Conduct preventive maintenance on all plumbing equipment and fixtures.
Responsible for assuring jobs meet code compliance.
Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions of the job.
Participate in professional development activities as required by the district.
Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties; support district/department goals.
Maintain a professional code of ethics and perform other duties as assigned.
