About The Position

Vertical Mechanical Group (VMG) is a leading mechanical contractor specializing in commercial HVAC, Plumbing, Piping, and Mechanical Construction. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Commercial Plumbing Foreman to lead field crews on large-scale commercial construction projects throughout the DMV region. This position is responsible for coordinating daily plumbing operations, managing manpower and productivity, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring installations remain on schedule. The ideal candidate is a hands-on plumbing professional with strong commercial construction experience who knows how to lead a crew, plan work effectively, solve field challenges, and deliver high-quality installations. VMG's Foremen are essential to successful project execution. They lead our crews, maintain productivity, solve challenges in the field, and ensure our work meets the safety and quality standards our customers expect. Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial plumbing or piping experience
  • 2+ years of experience leading plumbing crews or working in a Foreman/Lead Mechanic capacity
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of commercial plumbing installation and construction practices
  • Experience with domestic water, sanitary, storm, and specialty piping systems
  • Ability to read and interpret plumbing drawings, mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents
  • Experience planning manpower, sequencing work, and tracking field productivity
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction safety and quality requirements
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with other trades on active construction projects
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform hands-on field work and safely lift and carry materials and equipment as required
  • Willingness to travel to project locations throughout the DMV region

  • Journeyman or Master Plumber license
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Familiarity with Procore, Smartsheet, Microsoft Office, Outlook, AutoCAD, or similar construction technology
  • Experience coordinating with Project Managers, Superintendents, General Contractors, and other trade partners
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred

  • Familiarity with Procore, Smartsheet, Microsoft Office, Outlook, AutoCAD, or similar construction software preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise plumbing crews on active commercial construction projects
  • Coordinate daily work activities, manpower, materials, tools, and equipment
  • Plan and sequence installations to maintain project schedules and production goals
  • Assign work and provide clear direction to Mechanics, Helpers, and Apprentices
  • Monitor field productivity and adjust manpower or work plans as project conditions change
  • Work alongside the crew when necessary to support successful project execution
  • Lead installation of commercial plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary, storm, and specialty piping
  • Read and interpret plumbing drawings, mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents
  • Layout plumbing systems and ensure installations meet project requirements
  • Coordinate plumbing work with HVAC, electrical, structural, and other trades
  • Identify installation conflicts and work with project teams to develop solutions
  • Assist with RFIs, design changes, field conditions, and approved scope modifications
  • Coordinate material and equipment requirements with Project Management and Procurement
  • Promote and enforce VMG, OSHA, and project-specific safety requirements
  • Conduct regular jobsite inspections and proactively address unsafe conditions
  • Ensure proper use of PPE, tools, ladders, equipment, and other jobsite resources
  • Monitor installation quality and ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, codes, and VMG standards
  • Identify deficiencies and ensure corrective work is completed
  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional work areas
  • Track daily production, manpower, and labor performance
  • Monitor progress against project schedules and communicate potential delays or challenges
  • Help ensure labor hours and field productivity remain aligned with project expectations
  • Coordinate material deliveries and ensure crews have the resources necessary to maintain production
  • Manage equipment usage and ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained
  • Communicate field progress, manpower needs, and project concerns to Superintendents and Project Managers
  • Establish clear expectations for safety, quality, productivity, and accountability
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to field employees
  • Train and mentor Mechanics, Helpers, and Apprentices
  • Help develop future Foremen and skilled plumbing professionals
  • Promote teamwork and strong communication between field and Project Management teams
  • Lead by example and represent VMG professionally on every project
  • Coordinate and supervise daily activities of plumbing crews ranging from 2–7 team members
  • Plan and sequence work activities to maintain project schedules and productivity
  • Install and oversee installation of commercial plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary, storm, and specialty piping systems
  • Coordinate work with other trades, project teams, and subcontractors
  • Monitor jobsite safety and ensure compliance with company safety programs and OSHA requirements
  • Conduct ongoing site inspections to identify and address safety concerns
  • Track production and labor performance to help maintain project budgets
  • Manage equipment usage and ensure proper operation and maintenance
  • Assist with project planning, design changes, RFIs, and implementation of approved scope modifications
  • Provide technical support to project management, procurement, and field teams
  • Maintain clear communication with project staff, clients, and other stakeholders
  • Perform other duties as assigned
