About The Position

Supervises, coordinates, and performs the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems, fixtures, and equipment in accordance with project plans, specifications, applicable building codes, safety requirements, and company standards. The Plumber Foreman is responsible for directing plumbing crews, planning daily work activities, coordinating with other trades and project management, monitoring productivity and workmanship, and ensuring assigned work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.

  • Ability to secure pipes to structure.
  • Ability to test plumbing system for leaks.
  • Ability to follow directions, plans, and blueprints.
  • Ability to erect scaffolding and ladders.
  • Ability to rate information using standards which can be measured or checked.
  • Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
  • Ability to make decisions based on measurable criteria.
  • Ability to visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects of varying weights.
  • Ability to perform work from scaffolding, ladders, or other structures.
  • Ability to perform work overhead, beneath structure, and from various other positions as required by working conditions.
  • Ability to detect, recognize and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, coordinates, and performs the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Directs plumbing crews.
  • Plans daily work activities.
  • Coordinates with other trades and project management.
  • Monitors productivity and workmanship.
  • Ensures assigned work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material and piping required and dimensions of plumbing system to be installed.
  • Selects type and size of pipe and related materials according to job plans and specifications.
  • Inspects work sites to determine presence of obstructions.
  • Plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers.
  • Cuts pipe using hacksaw, pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine.
  • Threads pipe using threading machine.
  • Bends pipe by hand or with pipe-bending machine.
  • Assembles and installs a variety of metal and non-metal pipe and pipe fittings, including those made of brass, copper, lead, glass, and plastic.
  • Fits and installs prefabricated sinks, faucets, showers, etc.
  • Joins piping by means of threaded, caulked, wiped, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
  • Secures pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers using hand tools.
  • Tests plumbing system for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks.
  • Follows directions, plans, and blueprints.
  • Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
