About The Position

The Plumbing Designer will support the development of Revit models and construction documents for plumbing and fire protection systems. The candidate will have the opportunity to work on projects in a variety of market sectors, such as healthcare, science & technology, K-12, higher education, and commercial projects. This position is offered in a hybrid work environment, with a combination of in-office collaboration and remote work flexibility.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of plumbing/fire protection design experience
  • Proficient in Bluebeam Revu, Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office
  • Familiarity with codes, standards, and design guidelines
  • Excellent work ethic and attitude
  • Good communication and time management skills
  • Interpersonal communication skills, combined with organizational skills, the ability to plan, balance, and prioritize work
  • Working knowledge of the ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, and NEC

Nice To Haves

  • LEED certification/experience is a plus
  • CPD is preferred
  • Experience with laboratories/medical facilities design is preferred
  • Knowledge of the IBC, IMC, IECC, and IPC requirements

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Revit model drawings, and construction documents for plumbing and fire protection systems.
  • Produce floor plans, riser diagrams, schedules, details, and equipment layouts for new and renovation projects.
  • Work under the guidance of senior staff with increasing independence.
  • Assist with plumbing system layouts including domestic water, sanitary, vent, storm, and gas systems.
  • Incorporate markups, redlines, and design direction in accurate construction documents.
  • Coordinate Revit models with mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines.
  • Participate in clash detection and resolve coordination issues during design development.
  • Maintain drawing standards, sheet organization, annotations, and project documentation quality.
  • Prepare design calculations and selection of equipment for building plumbing systems.
  • Write and edit plumbing and fire protection specifications, engineering reports, and other technical design documentation.
  • Research applicable industry codes and standards and apply requirements to project designs.
  • Support construction administration through submittal reviews, RFIs, punch walks, field revisions, and as-built updates.
  • Meet project schedules and production deadlines while maintaining drafting accuracy.
