About The Position

A long-established, family-owned mechanical contractor providing comprehensive in-house mechanical construction services for commercial projects is seeking a Plumbing Design Engineer / Drafter / Detailer to help deliver accurate, coordinated, and constructible plumbing designs for commercial construction projects at their Oakland, California location. The role involves collaborating with project and engineering teams to develop detailed plumbing drawings, models, and shop drawings while supporting projects from design through construction.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• California Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferred.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, construction, and fabrication detailing.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with CADmep/CADDMECH or QuickPen is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and draft plumbing plans, layouts, specifications, and design details.
• Prepare detailed plumbing shop drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Review architectural, structural, mechanical, and plumbing drawings to identify and resolve conflicts.
• Incorporate design revisions, field conditions, and project changes into drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate with clients, engineers, and project teams to resolve design issues and meet deadlines.
