About The Position

Under general supervision, performs routine plumbing maintenace duties including repair and maintenance of plumbing systems including water, steam, gas and vacuum systems. Performs related duties as required Essential Functions Will perform all duties assigned across all trades. Performs maintenance, installation and repair of various plumbing systems or equipment throughout the facitlity including pumps, fixtures, water, waste and gas lines. Locate, diagnose and repair problems in the plumbing and gas systems. May install, test and repair lines and fixtures. Inspects and tests water, waste gas lines for leaks. Isolates defects in lines, pumps or fixtures to locate obvious faults such as broken valves, pipes or loose connections and leaky joints, worn washers. Repairs plumbing fixtures, fittings and equipment. Replaces pipes and pumps. Unclogs waste drains and sewage pipes. Moves and transports heavy equipment, tools and supplies to work site. Stores equipment in designated areas and assists in maintaining the security of equipment and materials. Maintain clean and orderly work site. Estimates and orders supplies needed to complete assignment. Maintains records pertaining to assignments. Performs related duties as required (e.g. assisting with floods and snow emergencies). Explains requirements and guides outside contractors in the completion of projects.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • 1-3 years Plumbing Required
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprint and plumbing diagrams (High proficiency)
  • FDNY Certificate of Fitness for Torch Operator and Fire Guard Upon Hire Required

Nice To Haves

  • 4-6 years Completion of Plumbing Apprenticeship Preferred
