As a Plumber, you will install, repair, inspect, and maintain plumbing systems, gas lines, fixtures, and facility equipment in compliance with applicable plumbing codes, building codes, safety regulations, and operational standards. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will perform preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and troubleshooting of facility systems while supporting safe, reliable, and continuous operations in a commercial or industrial environment.

Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized Plumbing Apprenticeship Program or equivalent trade certification
  • Valid Journeyperson Plumbing License and Gas Fitter Certification in good standing
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair in commercial, industrial, or institutional environments
  • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical specifications
  • Working knowledge of applicable provincial and national plumbing codes and building codes
  • Experience using CMMS platforms (e.g., SAP Plant Maintenance, maintain X, or similar systems)
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent) required for site access and operational support duties
  • Arial Work Platform and Fall Protection certifications.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, bending, climbing, and working in confined spaces or at heights, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotation for emergency and after-hours maintenance response

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in backflow prevention testing
  • Forklift operator certification
  • Environmental handling certification (e.g., ozone-depleting substances)
  • Experience with industrial mechanical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, and HVAC-related equipment
  • Additional trades experience (steamfitter, pipefitter, refrigeration, or industrial mechanic) considered an asset
  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and root-cause analysis skills
  • Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, or large-scale facility maintenance environments
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and time management skills

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems, gas distribution systems, drainage systems, and water supply systems in industrial or commercial facilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and specifications to determine installation and repair requirements
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair plumbing, gas, and mechanical system failures
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance on facility systems and equipment
  • Cut, thread, bend, and assemble pipes using hand tools, power tools, and pipefitting equipment
  • Conduct pressure testing, leak detection, and system inspections to ensure compliance with plumbing and safety codes
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and equipment status in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Support installation, relocation, and assembly of facility equipment and infrastructure
  • Collaborate with maintenance planners, engineers, and operations teams to prioritize and complete work orders
  • Follow all occupational health and safety (OH&S), environmental, and facility safety procedures, including confined space and working-at-heights protocols
